Job Title: TPG - Driver (L3)
Summary:
The TPG Driver (L3) is responsible for safely operating test vehicles across multiple locations in Southwest Michigan to replicate and understand customer experiences in specific environments. This role involves driving test vehicles under diverse conditions, identifying and documenting abnormalities or issues, and sharing findings with technicians and engineers. Safety, observation, and accurate reporting are paramount.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely operate assigned vehicles on specified routes across various locations.
Perform daily vehicle evaluations, cycling through 100+ components per shift.
Simulate typical customer driving behavior based on provided instructions.
Accurately report observations, concerns, or issues to technicians and engineers.
Prioritize safety at all times, including reporting near-misses and safety concerns.
Follow detailed operational and confidentiality guidelines for prototype vehicles.
Complete approximately 80% of work hours driving and 20% inspecting and reporting.
Ensure adherence to all driving laws and regulations.
Qualifications and Skills:
License & Driving Experience:
Valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record (past 5 years).
Minimum of 5 years of driving experience with a proven record of safe driving practices.
Technical & Mechanical Proficiency:
Basic knowledge of vehicle systems, including mechanical and electronic components.
Ability to detect and document vehicle issues in a clear, factual manner.
Willingness to learn and perform basic mechanical wrenching as needed.
Technology Skills:
Proficiency in using smartphones, tablets, GPS navigation, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.
Clear verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to follow and execute verbal and written instructions effectively.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move up to 40 lbs.
Willingness to work in hot and cold climates.
Flexibility & Travel:
This is a second shift position, which may require some flexibility.
Willingness to adapt to shift changes and travel as needed.
Education:
GED or High School Diploma required (some college coursework preferred).
Interpersonal Skills:
Strong listening, learning, and observational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Willingness to accept coaching and improve driving techniques.
Additional Requirements:
Operate prototype vehicles under strict confidentiality protocols, including adherence to special operating instructions.
Consent to surveillance and GPS tracking while operating test vehicles, as all vehicles are equipped with cameras for issue investigation and driver coaching purposes.
Demonstrate a willingness to self-report near-misses, vehicle damage, and other observations to ensure safety and testing integrity.
Work Environment:
Exposure to various environmental conditions, including hot and cold climates.
Approximately 80% of the role involves driving and 20% involves inspecting and reporting.
