As a contract and private label manufacturer, Valentine Enterprises Lawrenceville facility is a 300,000 square feet state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. This facility is equipped for contract blending, filling, bulk fills and flexible packaging solutions. In addition, VEI staffs a full product development lab that excels in flavor profiles and custom formulation, making each product precise and unique.

Summary/Objective : Accountable for assisting the first shift Senior Production Manager and the second Shift Manager in managing plant packaging activities to meet established safety, quality, customer service, innovation and cost metrics consistent with scheduling and compliance on both production shifts.

• Work 12:00pm-10:00pm in order to familiarize self with daily events and attend the daily shift-change meeting at 1:30pm. Must report to first shift production manager and/or operations manager to brief on daily progress.
• Familiarize self with packaging and blending. Shadow existing area ops managers/supervisors as directed by department operations manager.
• Attend 2:00pm Redzone huddle with first shift and initial shift huddle with second shift. Rotate between packaging and blending daily.
• Continue to work and be briefed by the first shift manager until shift change in order to be (thoroughly) familiar with the day’s events, issues and important considerations.
• Conduct shift change briefing with the second shift manager.
• Enforce all safety, GMP, and production standards.
• Participate, coordinate, communicate training requirements as directed. Training will vary.
• Work with fellow managers to staff production lines and make work assignments to meet production schedules.
• Complete accurate and timely shift, safety and training reports as required.
• Assist team leaders with inventory transactions as necessary.
• Maintain production equipment as required. Ensure that damaged equipment is properly tagged and transported to appropriate maintenance/facility area.
• Maintain production areas in a clean and presentable manner in accordance with regulatory requirements and VEI standards.
• Responsible for Production, employee training (as directed), and employee performance. Communicate feedback as necessary.
• Interact with all other departments as necessary to maintain Quality, productivity, safety, and GMP standards.
• Maintain data and prepare reports as required for VEI Management.
• Maintain employee training database and update as necessary.
• Monitor daily shift performance to ensure schedules are being met, quality and sanitation is according to standards, employees are working safely, and problems are being identified and resolved.
• Manage employee relations; be available to answer questions, resolve problems, and encourage employee feedback as needed. Administer the VEI disciplinary process when necessary.
• Facilitate the use of continuous improvement methodologies and projects to improve and streamline production processes.
• Participate in audit activities and ongoing efforts (as directed) to ensure compliance of internal and external standards.
• Participate in new product launches, tests and trials as able and requested. Advise on the outcomes and make recommendations.
• Responsible for Sanitation of all shift production areas in packaging and blending.
• Available for overtime, including weekends.
• Replace/fill-in for vacationing 2nd shift manager and supervisor, as needed, in order to provide continued managerial coverage on second shift.
• Comply with all safety and company SOP procedures.

Required Education, Skills and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science, Business, Management, or other related field required and or related experience.
• 2+ years in production supervisory role.
• Strong change management skills.
• Proven ability to coach and develop reports.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
• Abled to learn and master ERP systems and other related production (technical) systems as required.
• Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with individuals at all levels of the organization.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret a variety of technical information in mathematical and/or narrative form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Ability to think strategically while understanding long term goals.
• Ability to work well under pressure with multiple projects and deadlines.
• Ability to work with people of vastly different experiences and educational backgrounds.
• Ability to use common sense and rational logic when making decisions.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and projects.
• Ability to delegate key tasks to direct reports.
• Experience in planning work assignments and staffing department in accordance with established production schedules, training of new employees, and basic knowledge of OSHA, and cGMP regulations.
Preferred Education, Skills and Experience
• HACCP and NSF experience
• 2+ years in production packaging supervisory role in food or dietary supplement environment
