Reporting on and delivering stories with original journalism, creativity and authority. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to join one of the most prestigious, dynamic, ambitious and agenda setting foreign units in the business. The candidate must have a solid background in and a passion for US and international news as well as current affairs, a drive for visual story-telling, a creative and quirky approach to factual writing and the ambition to report agenda-setting news stories for the programme and for our digital output. The candidate will also have a strong track record of televisual story telling, news making, agenda setting reporting as well as being able to report live under pressure. Key Responsibilities: To provide coverage for all TV and multimedia outlets requiring short notice deployments, mainly across the Americas, irregular hours and some weekend working. Responsible for leading editorial input to provide day to day coverage of news stories across the Americas. Reporting on a broad spectrum of US stories, making them relevant and engaging to a UK audience and in a way which sets Channel 4 News coverage apart from other international broadcasters. Produce hard news pieces in an original way, often to a very tight deadline. Pitch and deliver exclusive stories and news-making interviews. Produce longer film pieces - these could be investigative, narrative or analytic. Represent ITN and Channel 4 when necessary in a public affairs or commercial capacity. These are the main requirements of the role and is not an exhaustive list of duties. It is intended to reflect the nature, range, and context of the work, which will change over time. Key Requirements: Broadcast journalist with flair, authority and excellent news packaging and live reporting skills. Strong understanding of Channel 4 News agenda. Ability to project authority and personality and to make the complicated accessible. Knowledge and experience of reporting broadcast news and current affairs with due impartiality, accuracy and fairness in adherence to ITN compliance rules. Track record of original journalism, exclusive stories, news making and agenda setting reporting. Excellent writing ability in a variety of news formats. Good broadcast voice and manner. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work under pressure in a small team to demanding deadlines. Our people are at the heart of everything we do at ITN.
