JOB SUMMARY
Under general direction, provides consistent professional spa massage and body treatments compliant with spa protocols and accepted documentation practices to create a healthy stress-free environment for relaxing and to meet the needs of guests and team members in accordance with established standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Using comprehensive knowledge of various modalities and common understanding of body treatments, evaluates clients by conducting various motion and muscle testing and suggest treatment plans in accordance with spa's menu offerings.
- Performs prep work, correctly cleans, and restocks treatment room as necessary upholding the standards of hygiene and sterilization as directed by law and the spa's policies and procedures to maintain a clean and sanitized work environment.
- Helps to organize spa storage
- Handles guests' queries and concerns efficiently and politely and provides exact, suitable, and instant responses to all requests by guests.
- Possesses the aptitude to work with no direct supervision and maintain a constructive attitude to add to a quality work environment.
- Maintains and replaces linens between appointments.
- Alerts management to order linens, supplies, and backbar.
- Properly cares for tools and uses proper amounts of backbar product to assist with cost controls.
- Communicates and assists in reinforcing treatment protocols and monitoring product usage and reinforcing spa updates as needed.
- Informs management of any suggestion regarding treatment and product protocols.
- Informs management of compliments and/or concerns regarding provider's work schedule, work environment, team members, and spa guests.
- Serves as a positive role model for all team members.
- Assists spa team members if needed.
- Ensures all areas of the spa are always clean and orderly.
- Regularly presents at, takes part in, and supports training and team member meetings for the spa.
- Actively supports the spa, treatments, services, and retail, in addition to programs, promotions and/or discounts obtainable.
- Executes professional boundaries and does not engage in dual relationships with clients.
- Converses to management all occurrences connecting team members or guests in the spa that require notice.
- Efficiently informs and teaches guests concerning specific wellness concerns.
- Attendance is a key component of this position.
- Maintains a professional appearance in accordance with Company standards; wears the appropriate uniform or attire.
- Maintains open and effective communication with team members and management.
- Attends and participates in team meetings and treatment trainings.
- Adheres to established safety and emergency procedures and protocols, this includes Company, federal, and state specific regulations and guidelines.
- Completes all required Company training/compliance courses as assigned.
- Adheres to Company standards and maintains compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical/Trade school certification or equivalent in related field.
- Maintains annually required CEUs.
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum one (1) year of experience providing massage services in a high-end salon or luxury spa environment required.
- No supervisory experience required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not include any supervisory responsibilities.
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
- Must hold and maintain a current state massage therapy license; 500 hours of massage training from an accredited school.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
This position requires the capability to understand and follow visual, oral, and written directions, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with others in English and interact successfully w ith internal and external customers.
- Proficient in all components of massage/esthetic forms of therapy, e.g., anatomy, physiology, body mechanics and various types of modalities.
- Physically capable of using the required equipment and/or tools specific to position.
- Proficient in time management; the ability to effectively organize and manage multiple priorities.
- Recognizes an emergency situation and takes appropriate action.
- Ability to work scheduled shifts, follow all timekeeping policies, and comply with federal, state, and local labor regulations, including those related to meal and rest breaks
- Able to communicate appropriately and effectively with all levels of management and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of key industry trends, best practices, regulations, and the current industry landscape.
- Basic math skills.
- Basic knowledge of email communication.
- Ability to adjust effectively to evolving work environments and shifting customer (internal/external) requirements.
- Able to maintain a positive and professional working environment.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. Specifically, if it is to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.
- Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
- Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks. Specifically, for long distances or moving from one work site to another often.
- Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward.
- Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.
- Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. Specifically, if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.
- Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
- Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
- Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
- Hands to Fingers: Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
- Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- No special visual requirements.
- Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- None: No exposure to adverse environmental conditions (typical office/administrative setting).
