Job Summary and Qualifications

1. This position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St Luke’s Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person . The Specialty Coordinator organizes patient care activities and serves as a clinical resource to staff in their designated specialty(s) in providing quality nursing care . Responsible for working with physicians to obtain necessary supplies, instruments, and/or equipment in their specialty areas . Updates physician preference cards and provides inservices and training to OR staff . Oversees and directs the care of assistive personnel, maintaining final accountability for the care given to assigned patients . When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

1. Position Requirements:  

 

1. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse , or current active multistate Registered Nurse license . BLS- Healthcare provider .  

 

1. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing . BSN preferred. Responsible for maintaining and updating knowledge/skills in the fields of surgical nursing, health care, and education.  

 

1. Experience : Minimum three years perioperative experience with emphasis in clinical specialty(s) to ensure clinical and theoretical competency.  

 

1. Special Qualifications : Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members . Ability to manage a team and work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care . Strong critical thinking skills . Basic keyboard and computer skills.
