Join Elsie Biotechnologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of GSK, for a full-time contract position as a Research Associate/Senior Research Associate. In this role, you will work on cell and molecular biology projects to advance screening capabilities in oligonucleotide drug discovery, focusing on cell-based assays and gene expression analysis. Responsibilities include oligonucleotide screening, oligonucleotide delivery optimization, assay development and collaborating across matrixed teams to advance oligo discovery. This position offers the opportunity to learn automation processes and contribute to innovative research in a fast-paced environment, supporting Elsie’s mission under GSK’s global expertise.

Responsibilities

• Execute a range of nucleic acid manipulations and molecular biology procedures with a strong emphasis on cell-based screening and gene expression analysis.
• Maintain and prepare mammalian cell lines for nucleic acid manipulation and subsequent biological assays, ensuring high efficiency and reproducibility.
• Prepare reagents and solutions as needed, using appropriate procedural and documentation methods, including industry standard good laboratory practices.
• Perform duties under supervision with increasing independence, bringing new ideas forward to advance research programs.
• Identify and solve problems in experimental procedures, suggest improvements, and write detailed electronic lab notebook entries to summarize experiments.
• Communicate progress with the biology team, present data at company meetings as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Education: B.S. or M.S. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field.
• Experience: 3–5+ years of post-BS/MS degree or biochemistry laboratory experience, with a molecular biology or biotech background highly preferred.
• Strong background in mammalian tissue culture and cell-based assays
• Technical expertise in basic molecular biology assays (e.g., qPCR, Western blot, ELISA)
• Experience with in vitro genetic manipulation (e.g oligonucleotide delivery by transfection/electroporation/receptor-mediated) is a strong advantage.
• Experience with assay automation and instruments including Tecan Fluent and Integra Assist is a plus.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
