Summary:
Under general supervision of Central Transport Manager transports patients and patient related materials throughout the hospital campus. Works primarily in outpatient clinical areas such as the Fain Health Center (FHC). All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age specific needs of the patients.
Responsibilities:
Transports patients and materials within the hospital and to and from outside facilities. Transports patients via wheelchair bed or stretcher to and from clinical and ancillary. Assists clinical personnel in transferring patients to or from beds chairs wheelchairs and/or stretchers.
Supports department areas as directed by the dispatcher.
Collects and signs off specimens cultures orders and requisitions and delivers items to appropriate destinations. Delivers audiovisual equipment.
Maintains established department policies and procedures related to quality assurance safety environmental and infection control. For example cleans and stores equipment upon job completion.
Performs other related duties as required.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Requires the ability to follow written and oral instructions in English.
The level of education normally attained in courses at secondary school levels.
Effective interpersonal communication skills.
Physical ability to perform essential duties.
Demonstrate knowledge visual acuity and skills necessary to provide correct Patient identification (check names on patient bracelets pager and ticket to ride).
EXPERIENCE:
Entry level.
Customer service experience preferred.
Between 2-4 weeks of on the job training will be provided
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Healthcare environment such as acute care hospitals physicians� offices and ancillary healthcare enterprises.
Works with transport equipment and has direct patient contact; takes standard precautions and proper PPE as directed by Nursing personnel when transporting barrier patients. Uniforms provided must be worn.
Any potential hazards are minimized or nullified by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions including use safety equipment and protective clothing.
