Job Title: Part-Time Youth Basketball Referee
Location: The Beaverton YMCA
Reports To: Youth Sports Coordinator
Employment Type: Part-time / Seasonal

Job Summary:

The Youth Basketball Referee is responsible for officiating youth basketball games in a fair, consistent, and positive manner. This role ensures that all participants—players, coaches, and spectators—experience a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment in alignment with the YMCA's mission and core values.\

Key Responsibilities:

Officiate youth basketball games for ages typically ranging from 7 to 14 years old.
Enforce rules and regulations of the game consistently and fairly.
Promote good sportsmanship, safety, and fun.
Communicate clearly and calmly with players, coaches, and spectators.
Monitor equipment and the playing area to ensure a safe environment.
Report any incidents, injuries, or rule infractions to the Sports Director.
Arrive on time and be prepared for each game.
Assist in setup and breakdown of gym/field when needed.

Qualifications:

Minimum age: 16 years old
Basic knowledge of basketball rules and gameplay required.
Previous playing, coaching, or refereeing experience preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick, fair decisions.
CPR/First Aid certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain).
