Description
Eastpointe High School is seeking a dynamic, mission-driven English Teacher to serve our diverse student population, including at-risk high school students, those pursuing alternative education pathways, and students re-engaging through our Dropout Recovery Program. This full-time position is designed for educators passionate about transforming lives and offering hope through personalized, flexible, and student-centered learning.
The English Teacher will support students in both blended in-person and online learning environments, with mornings dedicated to our brick-and-mortar campus students and afternoons focused on supporting students enrolled in our Dropout Recovery Program. Instruction will primarily be delivered using Edgenuity in a lab-based and classroom setting, with opportunities for direct instruction, small-group remediation, and individual coaching.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate student-centered learning through Edgenuity and other instructional tools, ensuring content aligns with Arizona State Standards.
- Build strong, consistent relationships with students to foster belonging, motivation, and accountability.
- Deliver instruction in multiple formats: in-person classroom, lab, blended, and online.
- Provide differentiated support to meet the diverse academic and social-emotional needs of students.
- Support a caseload of Dropout Recovery Program students through academic guidance, mentorship, and regular progress monitoring.
- Offer one-on-one and small-group remediation for students who need additional academic support.
- Monitor student progress using Edgenuity data and other assessments; adjust instructional plans based on data insights.
- Collaborate with fellow faculty, academic advisors, and school leaders to support individual learning plans and student goals.
- Communicate regularly with students and families, maintaining accurate records of contacts, attendance, and progress.
- Support a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom environment.
- Participate in staff development, training, and Eastpointe's professional learning community.
- Assist with Summer School during the month of June.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (English preferred).
- Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate or eligibility for certification.
- Minimum 3 years of teaching experience, preferably with alternative education or at-risk populations.
- Experience with Edgenuity or similar online learning platforms.
- Strong ability to build rapport with diverse learners, especially students who have struggled in traditional school settings.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices, behavior management, and restorative approaches is a plus.
- Passion for closing learning gaps and helping students rediscover academic success and self-worth.
- Clear communicator with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Organized, flexible, and committed to continuous improvement.
