Job Description

National Plaintiff’s firm that has handled numerous high-profile cases across the United States, including involvement in cases securing in excess of $3 billion in settlements and awards. The firm represents clients in mass torts cases, toxic torts cases, personal injury, medical malpractice, construction accidents, dangerous medications, consumer fraud, and defective products.

The Firm’s Chicago office is located in the Loop near the Washington & Wells CTA station. Offering a smaller and more collaborative work environment, we handle different types of toxic tort cases. While our practice focuses mostly on representing railroad workers in courts across the country who have suffered from occupational exposures, we also handle matters sounding in products liability, nursing home abuse, and garden-variety personal injury.

Full time litigation position. The successful candidate will demonstrate competence in managing and meeting litigation deadlines, including discovery- and trial-related deadlines. Experience with expert discovery, particularly Daubert standards of admissibility, strongly preferred but not required. The successful candidate will also demonstrate the ability to work with other attorneys and staff members in a constructive, collaborative manner. Many aspects of cases involve principles of statistics and science, particularly epidemiology. The successful candidate will show a desire to learn these new subject matters as they are germane to allegations in many cases. Because witnesses and evidence can be scattered, and because some cases are outside of Illinois, travel is occasionally required. We offer a competitive salary (125k-160k), excellent benefits, and opportunity for growth and promotion. Reply with current resume, cover letter and writing sample.

What We Offer:

• Competitive Pay and Benefits Package

• Health, Dental, Vision insurance

• Additional eligibility for company benefits such as life insurance, long-term disability, long-term care, FSA, and transit, subject to applicable waiting periods and local mandates.

• Retirement Plan (401k)

• Generous PTO

• Personal Days

• Paid holiday pay

Qualifications & Skills :

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school, with current admission in Illinois

• Deposition and discovery experience preferred

• Excellent legal research and writing skills

• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment

• Strong organizational and analytical skills

• Ability and desire to manage brief-writing requirements and to develop systems to meet deadlines and collaborate with other attorneys

• Experience handling FELA cases preferred but not required

• 3+ years of experience as a practicing attorney preferred but not required

Requirements:

• Must be able to travel

• Must be able to work in-office.

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school, with current admission in Illinois.
